Dubuque Arboretum | DubuqueArboretum.net

iP-Gallery-Dubuque-Arboretum-venueTHE NEED. A redesign of the Dubuque Arboretum’s website. The website had been in existence for some time — and had served the organization well — but was in need of a more modern, updated look.

THE SOLUTION. A WordPress-based platform that features a lot of images throughout the site, giving web visitors a preview of what to expect as a walk-in visitor. The site also highlights the wedding venues available throughout the Arboretum’s property … a revenue-producing component of this remarkable all-volunteer-maintained Arboretum.

THE RESULT.  A beautiful, image-heavy website that showcases an amazing physical property and the many benefits it offers to the community-at-large: updated calendars list information about musical performances held on the property, workshops, family events, and invitations to visit.

Sandi-Helgerson“Customer service and response times were amazing. Working with Glory made me feel like I had a friend in my corner who was looking out for the Arboretum’s interests. Our regular meetings allowed us to make progress on a regular basis and brainstorm ideas that would meet the goals we had for the website. Glory always went the extra mile in watching out for ways to improve and enhance our site. Glory is a self-starter. We had a problem with our site not showing up on the first page when we were searched for in Google. She found ways to make us a #1 listing on the first page and continues to enhance our site. Glory is friendly, professional and listens carefully to what your goals are with a site. You will get more than you pay for as Glory gives you added value of her time even when she isn’t “on the clock.” We are extremely pleased with our website. We receive many compliments about the beauty and easy use of our site. We have also increased revenue through our online giving options as well as a number of wedding requests here at the Arboretum.”

Dubuque Community YMCA/YWCA | DubuqueY.org

iP-Gallery-DCY-150THE NEED. A time-sensitive update to the Y’s site to comply with a national YMCA re-branding requirement deadline date.

THE SOLUTION. A WordPress-based platform that supports an image-heavy homepage to represent programs and events of this vital community organization.

THE RESULT. A site that organized the Dubuque Y’s information well, that used the “Y voice” in its content, that incorporated professional imagery, and that utilized video to promote its services. The site passed a very specific Y branding audit by the national Y organization in September 2015.

Covey-Sharon-225x225What a great job you … (and Y staff) did with our new website! Thank you for all of your hard work and effort building our new image. It looks great both from a layout and content point of view. Thank you both for sharing such great talent. I do love the website … I know you and Molly worked hard to make it happen… Thank you for navigating us through this. Nice job!”

Guinea Farm | GuineaFarm.com

iP-Gallery-Guinea-FarmTHE NEED. An update of the Guinea Farm website, a website that had been in use, without much revision, since 2002. A modern design that would showcase products in a very visual way. In addition to a website redesign, Ralph wanted to incorporate an eCommerce function.

THE SOLUTION. A WordPress-based platform that supports an image-heavy homepage and incorporates an eCommerce function, using a WordPress plugin: WooCommerce.

THE RESULT. A user-friendly website that sixtysomething Ralph updated himself before new owners Maria and Matt Mensen (daughter and son-in-law) purchased the business in 2016; sales reports that became more meaningful as his business grew and thrived; an easy, secure shopping experience for customers.

Ralph-Winter-Round“I wanted to have an interactive website so I could make changes and make updates on availability of products. We worked very well together. You were very receptive to my needs on the website, and no challenge was too big. Quick response. Never giving up on a problem, I wanted some pretty specific features and you came through … a popular design of the website with Word Press. I would recommend you to anyone because of innovative design. The website works wonderfully. Early sales have tripled. You helped me put my website in a position to grow my business. You were very responsive to all my needs and wants on the website and I thank you for a great job, done right. Well done.”

Monmouth College All-Sports Camp

iP-Gallery-MCASCTHE NEED. A redesign of a dated website as well as reliable hosting for this premier sports camp for ages 7-13 in Monmouth, IL.

THE SOLUTION. A user-friendly website for both web administrator and visitors to the site. A WordPress-based platform provides well-organized content for parents and youth athletes, allowing them to make informed decisions about sports camp registrations. The ease-of-use of the WordPress platform interface has allowed Monmouth College staff to make updates to the site themselves.

THE RESULT. Monmouth College All-Sports Camp’s previous website was updated with a cleaner, more modern design with more images showcasing the camp. The site was also consistently branded throughout with color and graphic elements.

TESTIMONIAL-Bob-Tucker“I found that working with Glory Hougham on the Monmouth College All-Sports Camp was a perfect fit for our needs. Glory’s creativity along with her timeliness were two of the most beneficial aspects of working with her to re-create our website. Her knowledge of web marketing was also very beneficial to us. Glory was highly professional in all aspects of working with us. I would highly recommend Glory Hougham as a Web Marketing Designer.”

Dr. Bob Tucker, Founder & Director | Monmouth College All-Sports Camp

Wife Sense (Homemaker Mentoring) | WifeSense.com

WEBSITE-WifeSense-wTHE NEED. Advice/training to set up a WordPress blog: details and functionality as well as hosting and security.

THE SOLUTION. Multiple email exchanges answering questions, clarifying understanding, suggesting resources.

THE RESULT. A fully functioning, ready-to-monetize blog that’s beyond beginner status. I can’t take any credit for the design — Alexandra did all of the work and the required self-education! — but I’m proud to have played a small role in its creation and really proud of Alexandra’s work!

Alexandra-Armstrong“When I wanted to set up a website for a blog I hope to monetize, I knew it had to look great and function perfectly. But my first thought wasn’t to look for help from a developer 500 miles away. I live in Louisville, KY and I didn’t need a little help. I needed a lot. After one conversation with Glory Hougham, any concern I’d had about the lack of physical proximity to my developer evaporated. Her technical savvy, expansive product knowledge, and design proposals made me confident she was the website developer I had to have. Working with Glory has been a wonderful experience. She listened to my vision (for an uncluttered, feminine-looking website for my homemaking blog) and made it happen. Quickly. But she did more than that. She made improvement suggestions I didn’t even know were possibilities and she built a little promotional video* to help me market my new site. The creativity she brought to my project was a delightful, unexpected bonus. I would enthusiastically recommend Glory Hougham for a wide range of web-related tasks — her skill set is broad! — to anyone, anywhere. She’s knowledgeable, efficient, and creatively talented. Her work on my site is proof. It’s an optimized, professional looking site I’m proud of. You’ll be proud of yours too.”

iP-Gallery-HandPickdTHE NEED. A HandPickd website redesign.

THE SOLUTION. A very modern WordPress-based design that gives Mari and Hillary’s business a clean, classic, timeless look to showcase their beautiful, cutting edge floral designs.

THE RESULT. A one-page web design with a parallax effect, featuring their most important components: a design showcase, testimonials from extremely satisfied clients, a bio area reflecting the expertise of the designers, and contact information to schedule a consultation.  [This beautiful site was initially featured on developer Themify’s Showcase page.]

Mari-250x250Hillary-250x250“Well, we have a new friend. Also, Glory is very invested in what she does, very honest, and truly talented in her field. She has a pleasant personality and was always very prompt about responding to questions and concerns we had. She’s knowledgeable in her field, reliable, and well worth the moneyOur new website that she designed for us has been huge with new bridal inquiries. Best thing we did was to modernize our look and add a Contact Us page! [By late September 2014, we were already 4 months ahead of the previous year’s bookings.] Thanks so much for your support in the success of our business!”
